The future of hand washing with LESSEAU

Diversey is bringing LESSEAU to Switzerland, a new hand hygiene system that uses solid soap bars and does away with plastic packaging entirely. The patented, precision-engineered dispensers and eco-certified refill soaps are a sustainable alternative to conventional liquid soap systems, which typically require plastic cartridges and a lot of storage space. The aim of the development was to combine hygiene, cost-effectiveness and environmental compatibility in a single system.

System and functionality

The LESSEAU system consists of two dispensers and solid bars of hand soap, which are ground into a fine powder when pressed and immediately transformed into foam when rubbed together. This gives users the familiar feeling of washing with liquid soap without creating plastic waste or product loss. The soap bars are plant-based, vegan and ECOCERT COSMOS Natural certified. Each refill lasts up to thirty times longer than conventional liquid soap. This saves resources, reduces transport volumes and significantly reduces the amount of waste.

Variants and areas of application

LESSEAU is available in two versions. The manual dispenser is compact, lockable and suitable for high-traffic areas. It holds up to three bars of soap, which corresponds to approximately 1,800 doses. The touchless dispenser is sensor-controlled and powered by a USB-C battery pack. Both models are easy to clean, wall-mounted and designed for durability. The application is suitable for public washrooms, educational institutions, healthcare facilities and hotels – anywhere where high standards of hygiene and cost-effectiveness are required.

LESSEAU offers three carefully designed variants to meet different needs:

Mille Fleur: Beautifully Floral is the classic choice for anyone who appreciates a pleasant fragrance. The perfumed soap leaves you feeling fresh and elegant after washing.

PureSense: Beautifully Gentle is aimed at users with sensitive skin or for areas where maximum hygiene is required, such as food preparation. It is fragrance-free, certified by ECOCERT COSMOS Natural and offers particularly mild cleansing.

NaturFresh: Beautifully Fresh combines sustainability with a subtle fragrance. Also certified according to ECOCERT COSMOS Natural, it is ideal for environmentally conscious users who do not want to forego a light fragrance.

Sustainability and efficiency

The environmental benefits of LESSEAU are measurable. According to the manufacturer, the system emits over 90 per cent less CO₂ and transports over 95 per cent less water than liquid soap solutions. The packaging is 100 per cent recyclable, while product waste is completely avoided. The solid form and low volume significantly reduce transport costs and storage requirements. Two bars of soap are equivalent to the contents of three conventional 250-millilitre liquid soap pumps, offering a significantly longer service life relative to their size.

Partnership with Slimstones

Diversey has signed an agreement with Dutch company Slimstones to collaborate on the further development of the sustainable and award-winning LESSEAU solid soap dispenser technology. The aim of the cooperation is to expand this innovative technology in order to meet the growing global demand for plastic-free hand hygiene solutions. Building on the success of LESSEAU in the Netherlands, Diversey is now introducing the innovation to other European markets. The company intends to become the first supplier to offer a proven solid soap dispensing system worldwide.
